How to turn your smartphone into a dictaphone
It’s no secret that smartphones are wonderfully multi-functional. You can use yours as a calculator, research tool, camera and so much more. They’re useful in the workplace too, helping you to take notes and organise your calendar.
You can install apps to further enhance the functionality of this wonder gadget. Here’s an example – the WeType VoiceMaster app.
VoiceMaster is our own custom-built app for easy, convenient voice recording on the go.
You may have a basic voice record function on your phone already, but VoiceMaster is a far superior choice for dictation in particular. This is because it allows you to easily submit your recordings directly to WeType for transcribing.
This means you can record, submit and manage voice notes all in one place. In just a matter of hours, a typed note/letter from your dictation will be completed and returned to you. Alternatively, we can type your correspondence directly into your patient management system if you use one.
You can use the app to record dictations, meetings, reports or whatever else you need to.
Retool your smartphone in seconds
It couldn’t be easier to start using VoiceMaster on your smartphone. The app is designed to be simple and intuitive, so anyone can use it. Simply follow these steps:
- Sign up for the WeType service
- Once you’re a WeType client, you can download the app for free from the Apple Store or Android Play Store
- Install the app and activate it with your username and password.
- And that’s it. Your phone retooled as a dictaphone and transcription submission device in a matter of seconds. Now all you need to do is make your first recording.
How to start recording
When you’re ready to dictate notes or record a meeting, simply open the VoiceMaster app and sign in. Then, just press record and start speaking. There’s no need for any microphones (although you can use a headset if you prefer) – you can just speak straight into your phone.
When you’re done, hit ‘send’ to submit your transcription. It’ll be sent to a WeType’s secure services, allocated to a UK-based specialist typist, who’ll have the finished document back to you within 24 hours (4 hours for a priority service).
Is it secure?
The VoiceMaster app is fully GDPR-compliant, and all recordings are submitted securely to the DictationMaster servers, located in the UK. What’s more, WeType is fully ISO27001 accredited. This isthe global security gold standard for information management systems, and the most important qualification any transcription company can have.
What does this mean for you? In a nutshell, your data is as secure as possible. This is particularly important if you work in healthcare, and plan to dictate patient notes or other confidential information.
You just don’t get this level of encryption and security if you use other transcription methods. For example, uploading dictaphone recordings to your computer and emailing them is particularly vulnerable.
